Training121 Child Welfare & Safeguarding Policy

1. Definitions

  • Training121 refers to GMG Training121 Ltd, and is also referred to as “we,” “our,” or “us” throughout this document.

  • Child/Young Person refers to any individual under the age of 18.

2. Introduction

Training121 is committed to maintaining the safest possible environment for all children and young people engaging with our services. This Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with our obligations under the Children First Act 2015, the Children First: National Guidance, and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice.

3. Child Safeguarding Statement

Training121 is committed to safeguarding children by:

  • Recognising that all children have the right to freedom from abuse and harm.

  • Ensuring all staff and volunteers are appropriately recruited, Garda vetted, and trained in child safeguarding.

  • Being active members of Ireland Active and completing certified Child Safeguarding training.

  • Responding quickly and appropriately to any concerns or allegations of abuse.

  • Offering all children, parents/guardians a safe space to voice concerns.

  • Applying clear, non-violent disciplinary measures that do not involve humiliation.

  • Maintaining an environment free of bullying and taking immediate action where incidents occur.

  • Regularly reviewing the effectiveness of this policy and safeguarding procedures.
     

4. Risk Assessment Summary

In accordance with the Children First Act 2015, Training121 has conducted a risk assessment to identify potential risks of harm to children while availing of our services. Key risks and our controls include:







5. Reporting Child Protection Concerns

All concerns or disclosures regarding the safety or wellbeing of a child will be taken seriously and handled sensitively.

  • Concerns should be reported to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP):
    Gary Daly – garydaly@training121.com

  • Where appropriate, concerns will be reported to Tusla and/or An Garda Síochána in line with mandatory reporting requirements.

  • Staff are supported in fulfilling their responsibilities under the Children First Act 2015.

6. Staff Code of Behaviour

All Training121 coaches and staff working with children must:

  • Treat children with respect, dignity, and fairness at all times

  • Avoid behaviour that could be perceived as inappropriate or abusive

  • Never use physical punishment or verbal humiliation

  • Supervise children appropriately during all Training121 activities

  • Report and document any safeguarding concerns immediately

7. Anti-Bullying Policy

Training121 adopts a zero-tolerance stance toward bullying, including verbal, physical, and cyber forms.

  • All incidents will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

  • Action will be taken to address bullying behaviour, including communication with parents and appropriate sanctions.

8. Session Supervision & Completion Policy

In the event that weather interrupts a session:

  • If 30 minutes or more has been completed, the session will be deemed fulfilled.

  • If less than 30 minutes is completed, you will be given the opportunity to reschedule the session for future use.

9. Media Consent

By booking a session, you grant Training121 permission to capture and use photos or video of the participating player. These may appear:

  • On our website and social media platforms

  • On the digital platforms of trusted partners or sponsors

If you do not wish your child to appear in media, please email admin@training121.com in advance.
